Try
Brisas Del Mar, too, if you have a chance.
They specialize in native cuisine.
Fresh fish, conch, and turtle steak are usually on the Chef’s
specials list.
El
Gaucho is located in downtown Oranjestad.
They specialize in steak and will serve you the best steak you have
ever had. Don’t miss El
Gaucho. One
of my favorite restaurants is “Flying Fishbones”
– the best food and atmosphere. It
is out-of-the-way, so you will need a car or taxi to get there.
Heading toward St. Nicolas on the main road, take a right at the
Brisas Del Mar Restaurant sign and follow that road, passing Brisas Del
Mar, until you see Flying Fishbones on your right.
The restaurant is located right on the sand of the beach – you
will eat your meal not 10 feet from the ocean – very romantic.
They specialize in seafood but also offer meat. Another
great place for steak, is the
French Steak House
at Manchebo Beach Resort.
Madame
Janette’s is an outdoor restaurant, moderately priced, great
food, and a guitar player who sings and plays soft background music –
very relaxing. Located not
very far from the highrise hotels. Make
reservations – usually booked solid.
You can visit their web site at www.madamejanette.com
to see their menu or make reservations.
(prices are in Aruba Florins and US dollars –make sure you notice
that). For
casual dining, try The Paddock – a Dutch
waterfront restaurant downtown. They
have a very relaxed atmosphere and the food is reasonably priced and very
tasty. A
fun place to have dinner is at
Twinkletone’s.
The food is simple but the entertainment is enjoyable.
The waiters, waitresses, even the chef, will sing local songs and
dance for you.
Many
of the hotels offer special Caribbean nights or Carnival nights with a
dinner buffet and show. You
may want to book this ahead of time. These
shows run about $30 - $35 per person. |
