Shop till you drop. Why?

Aruba offers a variety of shops downtown.  There are numerous jewelry stores right on the main street across from the water.  Avoid these – they cater to the cruise ships and charge high prices.  Head toward the real main street right behind these expensive stores and the prices are better.  Feel free to bargain for a better price.  Ask how much the gold costs per gram.  Try to get the item as close to $12 a gram or less. 
 

Souvenirs are plentiful – T-shirts, towels, etc. are available almost everywhere.  One of the unique items you may want to check out is called Mopa-Mopa.  These are handcrafted items made from dried vegetable pieces, hand carved and decorated without paint but with elaborate designs.
